How to interpret Ireland business data

Choose the geographic level that matches the territory

Use counties, local-authority areas, cities, towns, localities, and Eircodes according to the delivery or sales territory. Ireland has 26 geographic counties but 31 local authorities, while CSO regional statistics use three NUTS 2 and eight NUTS 3 regions. Those systems serve different purposes and should not be collapsed into a generic state field.

CSO County and NUTS Regions classification

The CSV is separate from the official business register

The CSV contains available public venue, category, place, website, profile-link, email, and telephone fields. It does not supply CRO numbers or status, proprietor legal form, NACE, food registration or approval, inspection or liquor-licence data, employees, turnover, named decision-makers, or marketing-permission evidence.

Using business contacts in Ireland

Irish ePrivacy rules distinguish the recipient and the context. Unsolicited email to a natural person can fall within Regulation 13(2) when the address reasonably appears to be used mainly for commercial or official activity and the message relates solely to that activity. Email to an organization other than a natural person is allowed until it has objected. Where a contact identifies a person, GDPR still requires a lawful basis such as properly assessed legitimate interests, transparency, minimization, and an immediate stop after a direct-marketing objection.

  • Classify the subscriber and mailbox context; a CRO business-name record can belong to an individual, partnership, or company and is not by itself a corporate-company match.
  • For a natural person's business address, retain evidence that it is used mainly in a commercial or official capacity and make the message solely relevant to that activity before relying on Regulation 13(2).
  • For organizations other than natural persons, suppress the address as soon as the subscriber or user objects under Regulation 13(4).
  • When personal data is involved, document the GDPR lawful basis. If using legitimate interests, record purpose, necessity, expectations, impact, and safeguards, and provide the required transparency information.
  • Identify the sender, use a valid contact address, provide a simple cessation route, and never conceal the identity behind the message.
  • Apply Article 21 objections immediately and screen every refreshed file against the suppression list.

For live marketing calls, check the National Directory Database opt-out preference and your own suppression list. Marketing calls to mobile phones require the consent conditions in Regulation 13(6); a public business number is not a blanket channel permission.

Classify each route before sending email

Classify each route before sending emailEvidence to retainPractical treatment
Company or other non-natural-person routeThe operator is an incorporated company or another subscriber that is not a natural person, and the address belongs to that organization.Prior consent is not required by Regulation 13(4), but do not contact an objector. Identify the sender, include a valid cessation address, and meet GDPR duties for named contacts.
Natural person in a business capacityThe address reasonably appears mainly used for the recipient's commercial or official activity, and the proposed message relates solely to that activity.Regulation 13(2) can apply. Preserve the context and relevance assessment, satisfy GDPR where personal data is used, and stop after any objection.
Consumer, personal, or unresolved contextThe address is primarily personal, the offer is not solely related to the published business activity, or the operator and use context cannot be established.Do not send unsolicited marketing email without affirmative consent or a valid existing-customer exception. A domain, generic prefix, or registry search alone does not resolve the context.

How SphereScout prepares this business contact CSV

SphereScout turns public business profiles into a category-and-location export. The process uses the business categories shown in the current page breakdown and keeps official registers, classifications, licences, and inspections separate from the file.

  1. 1

    Match the displayed business categories

SphereScout selects public business profiles matching the categories shown in the current page breakdown. These labels define the file's scope but do not replace official activity codes or authorizations.

  2. 2

    Structure available public details

SphereScout organizes the available business name, category, location, website, email, phone, and public profile fields, then normalizes and deduplicates contact values for export.

  3. 3

Publish coverage and deliver the CSV

SphereScout refreshes public business profiles regularly, publishes the latest collection date and available coverage totals, and delivers the selected records as a structured CSV.

Questions before choosing a list for Ireland

Is this a list of every company registered in Ireland?

No. SphereScout covers public business and operating-location profiles found in Ireland. The industry table reports the current coverage in each downloadable file; it is not a complete company-register census.

Does every Irish business profile include an email address?

No. Public email availability varies by industry and business profile. The comparison table shows both the number of businesses with at least one email and their share of all businesses in each file.

Can I narrow a list for Ireland by location?

Use the custom builder when territory matters. Depending on the public profile, available fields can include county, local-authority area, or NUTS region according to the sales purpose, city, town, municipal district, or other local area and street, locality, town, city, county, or Eircode.

Does the Ireland CSV include official registration numbers or activity codes?

No. A row represents a public business or location profile. The current export does not include company number for an incorporated company or business number for a registered business name, NACE code, legal form, register status, employee count or revenue.

Does buying the file authorize marketing in Ireland?

Irish ePrivacy rules distinguish the recipient and the context. Unsolicited email to a natural person can fall within Regulation 13(2) when the address reasonably appears to be used mainly for commercial or official activity and the message relates solely to that activity. Email to an organization other than a natural person is allowed until it has objected. Where a contact identifies a person, GDPR still requires a lawful basis such as properly assessed legitimate interests, transparency, minimization, and an immediate stop after a direct-marketing objection.

How do I receive the file after payment?

Once payment is confirmed, SphereScout prepares your CSV and emails a download link to the address entered at checkout.

Is this a subscription? Are updates included?

No. The listed price is a one-time payment for the file described at checkout. It does not include future updates unless explicitly stated. Platform subscriptions are separate.

Do the email counts guarantee delivery?

No. They count addresses present in the data, not successful deliveries or inbox placements. The percentage of businesses with email is not a deliverability rate.
